Speaker Bio
Lucy Caldicott is a charity leader and campaigner working to address issues of inequality, injustice and exclusion. She has worked in senior management positions at a range of voluntary and private sector organisations over the last twenty five years, most recently as Chief Executive of UpRising, a charity which offers a range of leadership and employability programmes to talented young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds. Prior to UpRising, she was Chief Executive of Diversity Role Models, a charity working to address homophobic and transphobic bullying in schools. Lucy was selected to contribute to the Runnymede Trust’s Reframing Race project and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
Lucy launched ChangeOut in 2018 to catalyse, encourage and support organisational culture change with a particular mission to help organisations address issues of diversity and inclusion. Through a process of building an in depth understanding of organisational challenges through a combination of desk research, one-to-one interviews, focus groups and staff surveys, Lucy and her team help charities reconnect with their purpose, and bring equality, diversity and inclusion to life within every aspect of their work.
In 2019, ChangeOut supported Comic Relief to create their Equality, Diversity and Inclusion action plan (testimonials below), and is currently working with Coops UK, Locality, Plunkett Foundation, and Power to Change who have joined forces to address issues of diversity and inclusion in their organisations and in the way they work with others. Another project with a UK-wide household name charity is about to launch.
Lucy’s style combines collaboration with gentle challenge, inspiring teams to work together better and differently, and encouraging people to be themselves.
