Mary is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the University of Arizona Foundation, where she plays a pivotal role as the principal strategist for aligning Information Technology (IT) with business objectives. She leads the Information Technology Services Team and oversees the Security Program, ensuring robust, innovative, and secure technological solutions across the Foundation and enterprise advancement technologies.
With over 27 years of dedicated experience in higher education, Mary has held multiple influential roles at the University of Arizona. Her expertise lies in aligning technology strategy with institutional priorities, modernizing legacy environments, and leading people-centered change that accelerates adoption and strengthens organizational culture.
Mary’s recent accomplishments are a testament to her forward-thinking approach. She has successfully integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance donor pipeline management, significantly improving the efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising strategies. Additionally, she spearheaded the development of a Data Governance program improving the quality, accessibility, and strategic use of institutional data. Under her leadership, the Security Program achieved a notable advancement, progressing from NIST Maturity Level 2: Managed to Level 4: Quantitatively Managed, showcasing her commitment to strengthening the Foundation's cybersecurity posture.
