Gen Z at the Table: The Role of Data in Reaching Young Donors

As Gen Z enters the giving pool, fundraisers need to find new and innovative ways to connect. More than 8 out of 10 support causes in some way—even if it isn’t monetary—and 1 in 3 expect to increase their giving in the coming years. The world in which they have come of age is radically different from previous generations, and connecting with them will require a willingness to evolve and adopt new communication strategies. 

Recent studies including the Blackbaud Institute’s Gen Z at the Table indicate significant fundraising opportunity among this audience, especially for organizations that invest in building trust during this crucial early stage of their development. The continuing “Great Wealth Transfer” which will see an estimated $84 trillion change hands through 2045 adds further long-term value for this audience.
