Navigating Disaster Response: Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the 2025 Wildfires

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank was at the center of the response to the horrific wildfires that struck Los Angeles County on January 7th, 2025. They immediately mobilized their team and by the end of February, they raised over $22 million with Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge NXT in response to the fires, which is four times what they raised during the busy end of year giving season for 2024. The organization has increased its operations and program activity to respond to the impact of the wildfires, convening more than 9,000 volunteers and distributing more than 24.5 million pounds of food and products since the outbreak of the fires. During this session, we will hear from Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Chief Development Officer, Roger Castle, about their strategy to disaster response and how they relied on their Blackbaud solutions to provide a seamless user experience and allowed donors from within their community and across the country to give in support of their mission. Roger will also share their approach to managing the large influx of donor data and how they leveraged Blackbaud solutions to maintain the integrity and health of their database.
