Raiser’s Edge NXT / Database Manager Roles and Responsibilities

Being a Raiser’s Edge NXT database manager (DBM) is far more than just being the best, most knowledgeable Raiser’s Edge NXT user on the team. It’s more than writing queries, setting up reports, and producing mailing lists and export files. It’s not about being admin support and just doing what you’re told or asked. It is about taking proactive leadership of the database and the users. In this session led by Raiser's Edge consultant Bill Connors, we’ll talk about what the real roles and responsibilities are of a DBM and provide practical recommendations for how to get them done when we’re all already so busy. Topics will include data and Raiser’s Edge NXT security; change management with the move to the Raiser’s Edge NXT unified view; training; providing data leadership with management and users; documentation; liaison with Blackbaud, other vendors, and other internal departments; analytics and reporting; and more. While a long-term consultant, Bill is just finishing over two years as an “interim” database manager for a large organization and has had to “practice what he preaches.” He promises to make the session specific and practical with take-aways you can implement immediately after the conference.
