Damaris Herron-Watkins has 20 years of experience in the Non-Profit industry in NYC and her experience has been in non-profit finance and operations. She is currently the Chief Finance and Operations Officer at A Better Chance where she has been since 2019. She manages the administration of finance, HR, operations and technology for the organization. A Better Chance is an educational access organization which provides transformational educational opportunities to historically underserved populations by placing them in independent schools across the country. She has worked in every aspect of the accounting lifecycle and her goal in her work is to educate, build relationships and improve systems for the betterment and financial health of the organization. She is also currently the founding Board Treasurer for the Friends of Global Community Charter School.
Prior to A Better Chance, Damaris was with LaGuardia Community College where she played an integral role in the administration of scholarships to LaGuardia’s first-generation college and immigrant student populations through its foundation.
Damaris has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Economics from CUNY Queens College, a Masters in Educational Psychology from Capella University and an EMBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
