Name
Using Data to Create a Culture of Philanthropy
Description
Whatever your organization and whatever technology you use, you’ve probably heard it before: “I don’t trust this data. The data isn’t pulling correctly.” Overcoming a lack of organizational trust in data is a difficult endeavor that requires cooperative effort on an ongoing basis. In the fall of 2020, the YMCA of Greater Houston tasked itself with investing in philanthropy and created the position of executive director of data management, with a mandate to “clean up the data.” But the organization decided to go beyond cleanup and started a long-term journey to a culture of philanthropy built on data.
