Sam Venable serves as Senior Manager, Product Management in the Data Intelligence Center of Excellence (DI CoE). In his role, Sam guides the product strategy for the CoE’s intelligence suite. His team is focused on delivering data-driven experiences that support effective decision-making through the application of machine learning techniques.

Prior to his work in product management, he served as a Principal Business Consultant at Blackbaud where he primarily worked with Fundraiser Performance Management clients. His consulting practice was informed by his experience as Director of Prospect Research and Management at (the) Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, during the last four years of the institution’s Promise Lives $450m capital campaign.

He’s been in fundraising in some capacity for more than 13 years, and loves blending the application of rigor, data, psychology, and essentialism to help institutions improve their fundraising outcomes. In his free time he’s an avid mountain biker, CrossFit athlete, quantified-self geek, and reader.

He and his wife live in Franklin, Tennessee, where they practice man-to-man coverage with their two children.
