Making Legacy Strategy Happen: Lessons from North West Air Ambulance Charity

This session for the Fundraising Fundamentals stream will explore how to turn legacy fundraising strategy into meaningful action. Drawing on the collaboration between Legacy Futures and the North West Air Ambulance Charity, we’ll share how a clear, focused legacy strategy and action plan was developed and, importantly, how the team brought that plan to life. We’ll look at the journey from identifying priorities and opportunities through to embedding practical activity, sharing what worked, what was learned along the way, and how the plan translated into day-to-day fundraising. Attendees will leave with clear, actionable takeaways they can apply within their own organisations, regardless of the size or maturity of their legacy programme.

Turning Great Intentions into Measurable Results

Great fundraising doesn't happen by chance. It happens when teams can clearly see what's working, track progress consistently, and turn actions into measurable outcomes.

Join Darren Fowler and James Blanchflower from Cash for Kids as they share how embedding actions, processes, and system tracking into their CRM has helped create greater visibility, accountability, and impact across their organisation. You'll hear practical examples of how they use their technology to capture key activity, monitor performance, and ensure teams have the information they need to make better decisions.

Whether you're looking to improve reporting, demonstrate impact, or get more value from your CRM, this session will offer actionable insights on creating a culture of measurement that drives fundraising success.

Raise & Shine: Peer Discussions to Inspire Impact

Join JustGiving for an interactive roundtable session exploring some of the biggest opportunities and challenges facing fundraisers today.

Hosted by JustGiving facilitators, each table will explore a range of discussion themes inspired by the fundraising landscape in 2026. Attendees will help shape the conversation, choosing the topics, challenges and opportunities most relevant to them.

Share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from peers facing similar challenges. Whether you're focused on supporter relationships, the practical use of AI, or finding new opportunities for sustainable growth, you'll leave with fresh perspectives and practical takeaways for the year ahead.

Responsible AI in Action - How Blackbaud builds AI for mission-driven outcomes

AI isn't just transforming technology. It's transforming responsibility. In this session, we'll explore the principles that guide Blackbaud's approach to responsible AI and how they shape decisions across the AI lifecycle. Learn how we balance innovation with security, accountability, transparency, and evidence-based design to help deliver mission-driven outcomes for the social impact sector. Drawing on Blackbaud's people-first approach to responsible AI, our product experts will share how these principles influence the features we build today and the innovations you can expect to see in the future.

Beyond the Pilot: from AI Adoption to Transformation

79% of charities are now using AI, with most focusing on early use cases such as content creation and productivity. So how do you build on that foundation and move towards transformation?

In this practical session, digital and AI expert Zoe Amar will help you pinpoint where your charity is on its AI journey, share examples of charities using AI in ambitious ways, and set out the guardrails that let you innovate with confidence. You’ll leave with clear next steps for your organisation.

What data does AI actually see, and what do you get in return? Three levels of AI and your supporter data

Whenever a charity considers an AI tool, the same questions come up from fundraisers, data teams, trustees and IT: what data will it see, and what will it do with that data?

They’re important questions, and the answer varies enormously from one tool to the next.

This session treats AI as a trade-off rather than a yes or no decision: giving a tool more of your data often lets it do more for you, though some of the most useful tools see very little at all. We’ll walk through three levels of that trade-off: from AI that never sees a supporter record, to AI that works with a sample of your data, to AI that knows your supporters well enough to predict and respond to them. Drawing on the experience of Wales Air Ambulance, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Good Innovation and Bridgit, speakers will share real examples at each level, the safeguards that made them acceptable and why complete, connected data in Raiser’s Edge NXT is what allows a charity to move up a level with confidence. Attendees will leave with a new lens for viewing any AI tool: what does it see, and what do I get in return?

Closing Keynote - Timandra Harkness

Timandra Harkness is a science writer, broadcaster, and comedian. She has performed maths standup, presented on Radio 4, and written a book; Big Data: does size matter?

After performing improvised and stand-up comedy, hosting cabaret, and touring with a tented circus, Timandra formed the first comedy science double-act in the UK with neuroscientist Dr Helen Pilcher. Now a regular writer and presenter on Radio 4, Timandra has fronted documentaries such as Data, Data Everywhere, and Personality Politics. She co-hosts FutureProofing, with Leo Johnson, which sees her looking at the future of everything from language to war, ageing to food. She’s also the resident reporter on social psychology series The Human Zoo.

Away from the microphone and since winning a competition in the Independent with a piece on goat-borrowing, she has written for publications including the Telegraph, Guardian, Sunday Times, Evening Standard, WIRED, Men's Health, and Significance (the journal of the Royal Statistical Society). Her book Big Data: does size matter? gives a history of data collection and collation, how it’s changing the world, and its shortcomings from politics to health to smart cities. Combining unusual facts with insight and humour, Timandra looks at how the future will affect business and society.

As well as looking at big data, she tackles AI and robotics, and considers topics around our relationship with science and technology.

On stage, Timandra has appeared in and co-written Your Days Are Numbered: the maths of death and Science Burlesque, which brought the Cheltenham Science Festival its first audience that included a hen party.
